Today is a big day for Xiaomi. The company is planning to announce several new products, including two flagship smartphones. The company has opted to livestream its press conference, in case you’d like to tune in.
Xiaomi will livestream its press conference on YouTube, and the link is embedded down below. This press conference is taking place in China, so we’re expecting that it will be in Chinese.
Xiaomi’s livestream starts in about an hour
If that ends up being the case, subtitles will be provided. The press conference is starting in about an hour, if you’d like to tune in. To be exact, it’s starting at 8AM CET / 2AM EST / 11PM PST.
During this event, Xiaomi is expected to introduce two new smartphones, several new smart TV models, a new version of MIUI, and perhaps even some additional goodies.
The company had confirmed that the Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G and Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha 5G will be announced today. The same goes for MIUI 11 as well, while new Mi TV models have been rumored.
The Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 may, or may not launch today. Xiaomi may opt to push forward the Mi MIX Alpha instead of the Mi MIX 4. If that doesn’t end up being the case, we’ll see both phones announced today.
The company will probably introduce both 4G and 5G variants of the Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha and Mi 9 Pro. Both of those phones will be flagship-grade devices, and both will be fueled by the Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC.
The Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro is expected to took the same as the Mi 9 Pro. It will include a waterdrop display notch, be made out of metal and glass, and features three rear-facing cameras.
Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha will be the real star of the show
The Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha, on the other hand, will probably not include a notch. In fact, the phone probably won’t include a display hole either. That device is rumored to sport a pop-up camera, or maybe even an under-display camera. The latter is highly unlikely, but who knows. Xiaomi is referring to this phone as a “concept device” after all.
Xiaomi recently confirmed that the sides on the Mi MIX Alpha will be covered by a display, for the most part. The phones will include a super-curved display, more extreme than these so-called Waterfall Displays we’ve been seeing.
The Mi MIX Alpha will also feature extremely thin bezels all around. Xiaomi actually teased an extremely high screen-to-body ratio, close to 100% even. It remains to be seen what the company meant.
There you have it. Those two phones, and much more will be announced today. So, if you’re interested, fire up the livestream, sit back, and enjoy.
