Open Beta 4 Arrives For The OnePlus 7 Series With Tons Of Changes

OnePlus has announced a new beta update for the OnePlus 7 series. This update is officially called OxygenOS Open Beta 4, and it is now available to the OnePlus 7 Pro. It will start rolling out for the OnePlus 7 next week, says OnePlus.

This update brings a ton of improvements to the table, but before we get to that, let’s put things into perspective. This is the second Open Beta update for the OnePlus 7 series since Android 10 stable arrived.

OnePlus had started rolling out a stable Android 10-based OxygenOS 10 update for the OnePlus 7 series at the end of September. Not long after that, the company stopped rolling it out. The company spotted a bug (or several of them) that needed to be fixed.

The rollout continued in mid-October with OxygenOS 10.1. That update amended the aforementioned issues, even though we never really found out what exactly the problem was. OxygenOS Open Beta 3 arrived around that time as well, actually.

OxygenOS Open Beta 4 brings many improvements to the OnePlus 7 series

Well, Open Beta 4 has plenty of improvements for us, all of which will make it to the next stable update, quite probably. This update is all about fixes and optimizations.

The company has fixed the screen flashing issue with setup when you’re adding a new fingerprint. An issue with accidental muting of a vehicle navigation with a Bluetooth connection has also been fixed. Mobile data tended to get automatically disabled after a new update installation, well, that won’t happen anymore either.

Visual effects of the permission’s pop-up window have been optimized, and the same goes for the black and white screen issues with some apps. OnePlus has also improved system stability, and various other system-related issues.

‘Raise to lower the ringtone’ is a neat new feature

‘Raise to lower the ringtone’ feature has been added in ‘Sounds & Vibration’ menu for incoming calls. The company also enabled an efficient addition of unknown numbers to contacts. The description for the features has also been optimized, while the dial pad area has been expanded in order to avoid mis-touches.

Message sorting feature by verification code has been optimized in Messages. The Calculator app has also been optimized, and the OnePlus Switch app now supports the transfer of iPhone data through iCloud.

The company’s Weather app has also been improved here. The company has added The Weather Channel as a data source in order to offer more options.

That is pretty much everything that OnePlus listed in an official changelog for this update. Do note that you will get this update only if you are already running Open Beta software. It is also worth noting that it is rolling out as we speak, but it may take several days for it to become available for you.

If you are planning to switch to Open Beta software for this update, do note that you will lose all data when reverting back to the stable channel. Also, you will not be getting stable updates while on beta software.
