Samsung has announced a new smartphone, the Galaxy A01. This handset has been listed on the company’s website. It doesn’t seem like Samsung issued a press release for it, at least not at the time of writing this article.
Based on its specifications, the Galaxy A01 is a budget phone. Samsung did not share this phone’s price tag, by the way, in case you’re wondering.
The Galaxy A01 is a compact budget phone made out of plastic
The Galaxy A01 seems to be made out of plastic. The phone has a rather noticeable ‘chin’ below the display, while the rest of its bezels are not thick at all. They’re thicker than the ones on flagship phones, though.
The phone includes a waterdrop notch at the top of the display, inside of which you’ll notice a front-facing camera. Above that camera sits the phone’s earpiece.
The power / lock button is placed on the right-hand side of this phone, while the volume up and down buttons are visible on the left. A SIM card tray sits on the left.
Speaking of the SIM card tray, this phone includes two SIM card slots (2x nano SIM), in addition to a microSD card slot for storage expansion.
The Galaxy A01 features two cameras on the back, and those two cameras are vertically-aligned. They’re placed in the top-left corner of the phone’s back side.
The Galaxy A01 features a 5.7-inch HD+ Infinity-V display, while it includes 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. As previously mentioned, its storage is expandable.
A 3,000mAh battery is included, along with two rear-facing cameras
A 3,000mAh battery is also included in this package, though fast charging is not mentioned. Chances are that this phone does not offer fast charging, nor wireless charging.
13-megapixel (f/2.2 aperture) and 2-megapixel (depth, f/2.4 aperture) cameras sit on the back of this phone. A single 5-megapixel (f/2.0 aperture) camera can be found on the phone’s front side.
A fingerprint scanner is not visible anywhere on this phone, by the way. The device almost certainly does not include an in-display fingerprint scanner, which means it doesn’t have such functionality.
The Galaxy A01 measures 146.3 x 70.86 x 8.34mm, so it’s quite compact. The device has been announced in Black, Blue, and Red color variants. This phone is probably meant to be sold in emerging markets, primarily. Samsung will hopefully release more information on its availability soon.
