Latest Galaxy S11 Plus Leak Shows The 'Real' Camera Layout

The saga of Samsung Galaxy S11 leaks continues, with a new leak showing us the S11 Plus’ rear camera layout. Prolific leaker OnLeaks, a.k.a. Steve H. McFly, has shared a fresh Galaxy S11 Plus render that shows how that camera system may look. Last month, the same source had shared the first unofficial CAD renders of the Galaxy S11 Plus. While the overall design looked to be accurate, the handset’s rear camera system had the sensors all over the place.

The latest render, meanwhile, has a much more normal looking rear camera layout. Further, it shows only four camera sensors and an LED flash in that rectangular bump on the back. Last month’s renders contained five cameras as well as an LED flash all housed within the same rectangular bump.

This could be the final Galaxy S11 Plus camera layout

About a month after posting the first Galaxy S11 Plus renders, OnLeaks has now confessed that those were based on an early prototype of the handset, and hence were not accurate. He believes that the new render he shared, which has a tidier camera arrangement, is based on the latest prototype and shows the final design.

This camera layout looks similar to the one shared by Ice Universe, another well-known leaker, earlier this month, though the image he shared showed only one side of the camera bump. Interestingly, it was Ice Universe who first disputed the unofficial CAD renders shared by OnLeaks last month. He also suggested that the Galaxy S11 Plus would feature a total of four rear cameras.

Samsung is looking to make the Galaxy S11 Plus a photography powerhouse. Rumors have it that the handset will feature a 108-megapixel primary camera, a 5x optical zoom telephoto lens, and an ultra-wide-angle lens stacked vertically on one half of the rectangular camera bump. The other half may feature a ToF (time-of-flight) sensor at the top with an LED flash beneath it.

These huge camera advancements, along with a bigger 6.9-inch display and a 5,000mAh battery, means the Galaxy S11 Plus would be considerably taller, wider, and thicker than the Galaxy S10 Plus. The body apparently measures 166.9 x 76 x 8.8 mm with a 2mm camera bump on the back.

All of these are mere rumors as of now, though. However, it won’t be a too-long wait before things get official. Samsung will likely launch the Galaxy S11 series sometime in mid-February next year, possibly on February 11.
