A rather interesting video surfaced in China. That video featured Pete Lau, and a number of OnePlus smartphone prototypes. One of those prototypes could be the OnePlus 8 Lite.
These images have been shared by Slashleaks, a well-known tipster. He actually shared three images, all of which are showing a bunch of smartphones in a plastic box. These seem to be dummy units.
OnePlus’ CEO, Pete Lau, has been a part of the video from which these screenshots were taken. Now, the blue device on the right, with a triple camera setup, is allegedly the upcoming OnePlus 8 Lite.
Do take this information with a grain of salt, though. This could just be one of the designs that OnePlus opted not to go along with. On the other hand, it could be spot on. The OnePlus 8 Lite may look like this particular prototype, but it may not be identical to it.
The alleged OnePlus 8 Lite gets shown with a bunch of smartphone prototypes
There are quite a few OnePlus prototypes included in this box, but we only get to see two, one of which is possibly the OnePlus 8 Lite. One of them is showing its front side, while the other one is the alleged OnePlus 8 Lite. The device on the right is not the OnePlus 8 Lite, not even close. That phone will definitely not include such a large notch on the front.
As a reminder, the OnePlus 8 Lite did surface in renders already. Those renders were shared by @OnLeaks and 91mobiles, and they showing a slightly different design. In those renders, the phone’s LED flash is a part of the camera setup on the back, as it sits below the phone’s cameras.
This prototype image shows that an LED flash is moved to the side. The whole camera module on the back looks a bit different.
It is possible that the aforementioned renders actually show the final design, and that this leaked dummy is just a discarded prototype. In any case, the two back designs are quite similar, and they should give you an idea as to what the final product will look like.
The OnePlus 8 Lite is said to be made out of metal and glass, and include really thin bezels. The device is also rumored to sport a centered display camera hole on the front.
The device will include a flat, 90Hz display
The OnePlus 8 Lite is expected to sport a flat display, unlike its siblings. Both the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are expected to sport curved displays.
The company’s first ‘Lite’ smartphone is also rumored to sport a display size between 6.4 and 6.5 inches. That will be an OLED display, and it will be a high refresh rate panel. The OnePlus 8 Lite is expected to include a 90Hz display, while the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro will sport 120Hz displays.
All three devices will probably launch in May this year, unless the OnePlus 8 Lite arrives ahead of schedule.
