Good Lock 2020 Brings Android 10 Support & Tons Of New Features

Samsung’s Good Lock is a very powerful customization app for Galaxy devices, and as the company promised last month, it has now been updated with support for Android 10 and One UI 2.0. Good Lock 2020 is now available for download from the Samsung Galaxy Store.

Until now, Good Lock was not compatible with Samsung smartphones running the Android 10-based One UI 2.0. Apparently, the app requires a complete rework with every Android version upgrade and hence takes a bit more time to update.

The latest version of Good Lock includes support for system-wide dark mode and follows the One UI 2.0 design principle. It also brings improvements in individual plugins.

Note that you’ll have to update both the main Good Lock app and the plugins to make use of the new features. And if you’ve updated your phone to Android 10, you’re recommended to uninstall and reinstall all Good Lock plugins. A restart may also be necessary.

Good Lock 2020 new features

To begin with, Task Changer gets a new vertical stack layout for the recents screen. The carousel layout option also has a new cube effect. NotiStar gets a new handler (a lock screen icon) that indicates where to swipe from.

You can customize the handler’s icon, color, position, and opacity. QuickStar gets improved color coordination and an updated default theme list.

A new MultiStar feature now lets you quickly launch multi-window by long-pressing the recents key.

Improvements have also been made to Sound Assistant, One Hand Operation, EdgeTouch, EdgeLighting+, Nice Catch, and ThemePark. The latter finally gets the much-needed dark mode support. Some of the new features are Android 10-exclusive, though.

Reports last month said Lockstar will get an ability to automatically arrange elements to match the background. However, the module hasn’t yet been updated and hence isn’t functional on devices running Android 10.

NavStar hasn’t been updated with Android 10 support either. You’ll have to wait a little bit longer to use these two Good Lock plugins on your Android 10-powered Galaxy smartphone.

Unfortunately, Good Lock still isn’t available in every market where Samsung sells its Galaxy smartphones. The app may still be compatible, though. So you might want to sideload the APK if the app isn’t available on the Galaxy Store for you.

You’ll have to sideload the main Good Lock app as well as all the plugins. Note that some of the plugins only work on Android 10. So if your device runs Android 9 Pie and a Good Lock plugin doesn’t work, you will have to sideload an older version of it.
