The Huawei Mate X2 may ship with a stylus, and six cameras in Q3 2020. This information has been revealed by 91mobiles, who managed to get their hands on some info, and Huawei’s certification documents.
Huawei seems to have filed a patent with EUIPO for a device that may become the Mate X2. The device resembles the original Mate X quite a bit, though it comes with a stylus.
That patent comes with some sketches as well, which shows the design of the device, while 91mobiles claims the device will launch in Q3 2020. That timeframe is more rumored than anything, so take it with a grain of salt.
The Huawei Mate X2 may include six cameras, and not-your-regular stylus
The design of this device is somewhat similar to the original Mate X. This handset, however, comes with a completely different camera module. You’ll notice two cameras on its back, and when the device is folded, those cameras are not covered. All around those camera a separate display will be included, it seems… so those cameras will basically be included inside the display.
This device folds outwards, just like the Mate X, and next to its camera setup, just like the original. By doing that, it allows you to use those cameras both when it’s folded and unfolded.
Those two cameras are not the only ones included here, however. On the other side of the device, there are four vertically-aligned cameras. Those cameras are placed inside a display, so we have four separate display holes here. So, the Huawei Mate X2 may included six cameras overall.
Truth be said, that’s a rather odd move, especially if this ends up being the final design of the Mate X2. Considering there are already two cameras on the back, these four on the front really don’t seem to be necessary. It remains to be seen what Huawei is planning.
Bezels will be quite thin on this device, if the provided sketches are to be believed. What’s interesting here, is that a stylus is pictured next to the device.
That doesn’t seem to be your regular, rubber stylus, though. This stylus features a really thin tip, that seems to offer some sort of advanced design. That suggests that Huawei may be looking to compete with Samsung in that regard.
The Huawei Mate X was announced way back in February last year. The device has been launched in China, but the US ban limited its release elsewhere.
The Mate Xs will be announced for global markets at MWC 2020
Huawei is planning to announce the Mate Xs during MWC 2020, for the global market. That device was already announced in China, so we know exactly what to expect.
The Mate Xs will basically be an improved version of the Mate X, and it will look almost the same. It will ship with the Kirin 990 processor, which is 5G-enabled.
