Minnesota-based smartphone accessories maker Vena has two new protective cases up for consideration following the launch of Samsung’s Galaxy S20 series. The designs are suited for the more pricey variants of the gadgets, specifically the Samsung Galaxy S20+ and Galaxy S20 Ultra. Vena has one case for the former device and two for the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra.
Each of the cases is up for pre-order now, with an expected ETA of April 30. But that’s not the only characteristic they have in common. Dubbed the Vena vArmor and Vena vCommute, both cases offer top-of-the-line drop protection. Each is built around a dual-layer polycarbonate and TPU design with Vena’s CornerGuard technology. That exceeds MIL-STD 810G-516.6 military drop-test standards. So the phones were tested with 26 drops from 4 feet high.
The Vena vCommute is arguably the sleeker, rounder design. That also doubles as a wallet. Vena designed the vArmor with a more rugged, industrial look in mind. But both cases are engineered with precision cutouts as well as tactile buttons intended to help maintain the feel of the phone itself.
The final similarity here is that each of the Vena Galaxy S20 cases ships free in the US, UK, and Canada and comes with a lifetime warranty. That should make either case a great investment to protect Samsung’s new top-tier, and thus expensive, devices.
The Vena vArmor for Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G
The Vena vArmor case is only compatible with the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra and comes in a single color for just $29.99. That’s a high-gloss black and a brushed metallic silver backplate, complete with black fasteners at the back for added style.
Engineered for maximum protection and with looks to match, the edge design here features ridges for grip. It’s a stunning case for those who love a rugged look that’s as functional as appealing.
The benefits of the Vena vArmor case also extend well beyond its looks or the protective features listed above. Vena Galaxy S20 Ultra Holster Case vArmor also comes with a detachable holster belt clip. That doubles as a kickstand in a pinch, aside from serving to keep the gadget attached to the user when not in use. It swivels 180 degrees for added viewing angles.
More importantly, Vena vArmor is not only compatible with Samsung Pay, Google Pay, and other tap-to-pay services. It’s also fully compatible with wireless charging and PowerShare reverse wireless charging.

The biggest difference that sets the Vena vCommute cases apart from the vArmor case, aside from aesthetics, is its functionality. As noted above, this case is more rounded, with a slim profile and a design that’s intended to provide maximum protection. But the Vena vCommute case for the Samsung Galaxy S20+ and Galaxy S20 Ultra is also a wallet.
That comes with both benefits and one drawback. The benefit is that there’s a slide-out leather flap that tucks away card slots. Those can store IDs and bank or credit cards. The foldable flap also serves as a kickstand for multi-position viewing, starting at just $39.99.
Vena vCommute is fully compatible with Samsung Pay and other third-party tap-to-pay services. Metal plates built into the design mean that it will work flawlessly with magnetic car mounts.
Those metal plates also give way to the Vena vCommute case’s biggest drawback. Unlike the vArmor case above, this case is not at all compatible with wireless charging. That’s going to be a fairly big deal for those that utilize the feature or Samsung’s power-sharing reverse wireless charging features.
The Vena vCommute comes in a high-gloss multi-textured black design.
