The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite will be a more budget form of the Tab S6. It seems like a Wi-Fi model of the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is also on the way, and its price tag got revealed in a new leak. On top of that, some renders surfaced as well.
Price gets revealed for the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite Wi-Fi variant
Tipster Ishan Agarwal has discovered the price of the upcoming “Lite” Wi-Fi model. The price will be €399, or ~$440, about $210 less than the regular Tab S6 model. This price is, of course, more affordable than the S6 Lite LTE model (€430 or ~$475). The Wi-Fi model looks to be slightly lower than the earlier price. The LTE, however, is right on with what has been said earlier.
The new renders, courtesy of Pricebaba, show that the S6 Lite will, like its grander “sibling,” will include the S Pen, Samsung’s stylus that lets users draw, write, paint, doodle, and so on. The S Pen will match the color of the tablet in question. The only two colors for the tablet currently are slate grey and light blue, and the S Pen will match either color depending on color selection.
Mid-range tablet specs
Buyers expecting something along the lines of an upgrade-eligible Galaxy Tab S5e replacement are out of luck here. The S5e costs $230 (original price), while the “Lite” S6 tablet costs at least $200 more. With the S5e at $230 and the regular S6 tablet at $650, the “Lite” version is the mid-range tablet to complete Samsung’s lineup.
And the mid-range price brings with it mid-range specs. The upcoming S6 Lite tablet features a 10.4-inch, liquid crystal diode (LCD) screen. The mid-range S6 Lite tablet will have an LCD screen as opposed to an AMOLED panel. Samsung is cutting some corners to make this “Lite” tablet model more affordable.
The display will have a 2,000 x 1,200p resolution, something akin to Full HD+ instead of Quad HD+ for premium tablets. Full HD+ is a step down for some in terms of device quality, though one can always save more battery. On an LCD screen, getting Full HD resolution instead is better than the alternative.
The Exynos 9611 SoC, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage provide power for the device. It’s an SoC for non-premium devices such as the Galaxy M21, unveiled in March. The Galaxy M replaces the Galaxy J and On series in the low-tier range.
There’s a 5MP front camera and 8MP rear camera, nothing to write home about. The massive 7,040mAh battery will have to go the distance, but it’s sizable enough. Additionally, the lack of quad AKG speakers like users see on the original Tab S6 shows the device isn’t premium. There’s also the 3.5mm headphone jack on the device. The headphone jack is becoming a budget feature. Samsung removed it from the Galaxy S series this year.
There are some high-end specs for the S6 Lite tablet, however. Among them is the pre-installation of Android 10 with Samsung’s One UI experience. There’s also 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi (dual-band), found in premium phones such as the Galaxy S20 series. Bluetooth 5.0 is also a premium standard, as it allows for dual headphone-set pairing to one device.
USB-C charging is also a premium standard. The EU is adopting the USB-C standard for all devices despite the desire of some OEMs to continue using micro-USB for budget phones.
As is the case above, Samsung is placing the S6 Lite tablet as a mid-ranger, with some low-end specs and some high-end ones. And the price sits between the low-end and high-end, too.
Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite Wi-Fi and LTE models on April 2nd.
