Huawei has just confirmed that it will announce its new P40 flagships on March 26. The company has confirmed as much via its official website. Huawei is using a ‘VisionaryPhotography’ hashtag for this launch event, it seems.
That hashtag obviously hints that the camera will be the main focus of this smartphone. That is nothing new for Huawei, as the P30 series was focused on the camera as well. The Huawei P30 Pro is still considered to be one of the best camera smartphones around.
Now, we already knew that the Huawei P40 will launch on March 26, as Huawei’s CEO confirmed it recently. This time it’s officially official, as Huawei confirmed it directly.
The Huawei P40 series will launch on March 26 during an online-only event
Do note that this event will not take place in Paris, though, as expected. Huawei has switched things around, and made this into an online-only event. The reason for it is probably coronavirus, but the company did not elaborate on that.
As part of this event, Huawei is expected to announce the Huawei P40 and P40 Pro. On top of that, the company may introduce the rumored P40 Pro Premium Edition (PE) smartphone as well. That will essentially be the P40 Pro with a ceramic back.
Both the Huawei P40 and P40 Pro are expected to be made out of metal and glass. The two phones will look quite similar, though the P40 Pro will have a larger camera module on the back.
Both devices are expected to sport a pill-shaped display camera hole. That hole will be placed in the top-left corner of the display. You can also expect to see really thin bezels on both smartphones.
The Huawei P40 Pro is also expected to include a periscope camera setup on the back. This is not exactly surprising, as the P30 Pro offered such a setup as well. The Galaxy S20 Ultra followed in its footsteps recently, and the OPPO Find X2 Pro also includes such a camera.
The Kirin 990 will fuel both devices, while Google services will not be included
Both smartphones will be fueled by the Kirin 990 64-bit octa-core processor. That is the most powerful chip that Huawei has to offer at the moment.
Android 10 will come pre-installed on both phones, along with EMUI 10 skin. Do note that Google services will not be a part of the package, though, due to the US ban. Both devices will come with HMS instead, so you won’t have access to Google’s apps, including the Play Store.
You can expect both devices to offer plenty of RAM. Huawei will almost certainly include LPDDR5 RAM in both phones, and the same goes for UFS 3.0 or UFS 3.1 flash storage.
Both devices are expected to support 5G, and included OLED display. The P40 Pro will sport a curved display, while the regular model is rumored to arrive with a flat display.
