According to a new rumor, Xiaomi is planning to announce an ‘oversized’ Mi 10S handset in the second half of this year. Based on the ‘oversized’ description, you can expect the Xiaomi Mi 10S to be quite large.
This handset will be a part of the Mi 10 lineup, kind of
That handset will be a sibling to the Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro, kind of. It will not be a whole new generation of devices, but rather an expansion of the current lineup, presuming the rumor is accurate, of course.
Take this information with a grain of salt, as the Xiaomi Mi 9S never came to life. Xiaomi did announce the Mi 9 SE, which was a mid-range phone, though.
The Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro got announced in China last month, and were supposed to launch globally during the MWC 2020. As most of you know, MWC 2020 got canceled due to coronavirus fears, and so did Xiaomi’s event.
The company rescheduled its global launch to March 27. That will be an online-only event, and the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro will definitely launch during it. The company may be preparing some surprises for that event as well.
Considering that those two phones already launched in China, we know exactly what to expect. The same cannot be said for the rumored Xiaomi Mi 10S, however.
This rumor did not exactly elaborate on the phone’s details. Other than the fact it will be huge, and launch in H2 2020, we don’t know anything about the device.
In fact, we don’t even know if it will be a mid-range or a high-end phone. You’d assume that it will be high-end due to its Mi 10 branding, but Xiaomi used its flagship branding for mid-range devices as well.
The Xiaomi Mi 10S will be ‘oversized’, it could feature a 7-inch display
If we had to guess, we’d say that this will be a flagship-grade phone with a huge display, which will differentiate it from the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro. That’s just a wild guess, though, anything is possible.
The Black Shark 3 Pro arrived quite recently with a 7.1-inch display. That is a gaming smartphone, so that display size is not surprising. Considering Black Shark’s ties with Xiaomi, we would not be surprised if the Mi 10S ended up sporting a display of similar size.
The Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro are both made out of metal and glass, and other than some differences in the camera module on the back, they look the same. Both phones are extremely slippery, and included a display camera hole.
Both phones are fueled by the Snapdragon 865, while they come with plenty of RAM. Large batteries are a part of the picture, and the same goes for compelling camera setups. You can read more about their specs by clicking here.
