The Division 2 launch is just around the corner for Stadia, and it comes with cross-play of all things.
According to a new report from Android Central which mentions a Ubisoft press release, the game will launch on Stadia this month. It will also feature the cross-play functionality that allows you to play with your friends on other platforms.
For fans of the looter shooter which just launched a new expansion across consoles and PC, this is a big deal. Especially given how many people may already own the game somewhere else.
Users looking to pick this up will apparently be able to do so on March 17. This is also seemingly a little bit behind schedule, as a leak from February 6 noted that Ubisoft’s plans for releases between January and March of this year included The Division 2.
The Division 2 cross-play on Stadia will be for PC only
Based on the press release information the cross-play feature will only be for PC. Meaning you won’t be able to play with friends who own the game on consoles like the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.
You will however be able to play with friends that are on PC. Ubisoft had a pretty big sale on the game just a couple of weeks ago where it was only $3 for the standard version on PC. So there’s likely to be a lot more players in the game now that Stadia users will be able to team up with.
This is a major feature for this game. As the lack of cross-play is a huge drawback for Destiny 2. The main reason why Destiny 2 seems so much more appealing to some on GeForce NOW, is because you can play through Steam so you can still play with your friends and clan.
Not on Stadia though. You’re limited to just people that play on Stadia. And while the player base fluctuates, it tends to hover around 3.5k – 4.1k players at any given time. Which quite honestly is not a lot.
The Division 2 won’t run into this problem and that’s a massive upside.
The new Warlords Of New York expansion will launch on the same day
If you’re planning to grab The Division 2 on Stadia, you’ll also want to grab the expansion. Warlords Of New York.
It just launched on PC yesterday for some players and officially launched on PC and console as of today. It’s jam-packed with brand-new content and loads of new challenges.
It also promises to breathe some life into the end-game while introducing new gear and weapons along with the new missions.
