A new beta update for the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro arrived recently, and it was quickly pulled by the company for locking users out of their devices. The update in question is marked as OxygenOS Open Beta 12.
This was apparently a buggy update, and the company did react fast. This update actually brought the latest Android security patch along with it, the one for April.
The OnePlus 7 series beta update pulled after locking users out of their devices
This update did have a problem with locking OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro users out of their devices, but that was not the only issue. The update also came with a bug that increased the temperature of OnePlus 7 series phones while charging.
On top of that, Wi-Fi stability issues also appeared for some people. This was apparently quite a buggy update, and the company will re-release it once it fixes everything. It is a beta update, though, not a stable one, luckily.
The update did have some positives as well. It optimized the volume adjustment, while it also added the missing recording icon in the call screen. Stability overall has been tweaked, and the ringtone duration info for missed calls has been added.
This update also allowed OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro users to switch mobile data on phone calls supported with VoLTE. On top of all that, a feature that can detect dirt on the camera lens has been added as well.
OnePlus will hopefully fix and re-release this update soon
OnePlus will hopefully fix this update soon, and re-release it, mainly for users who are having issues at the moment.
This is a good example as to why you shouldn’t move to a beta channel on your primary handset. Issues are always a possibility.
Speaking of updates, the company also released an update for its new devices, the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro. That update was released just in time for users to install it once they receive their phones.
OxygenOS 10.5.4 actually optimizes a lot of stuff on the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro, and first and foremost, their cameras. That especially goes for the OnePlus 8 Pro, as its camera has been boosted quite a bit with this update.
OnePlus introduced its new flagship smartphones quite recently. The two phones are quite similar in the design department, but the 8 Pro is more powerful.
The OnePlus 8 Pro is the first OnePlus smartphone to offer an official IP rating for water and dust resistance. It is also the first phone to support wireless charging, and the first device to offer 120Hz display refresh rate. If you’d like to know more about the two phones, check out our comparison.
