OnePlus 8 Flagships Are A Lot More Affordable In China & India

A couple of days ago, price tags for the OnePlus 8 series in China have been revealed. It turns out that the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are a lot more affordable in China, and the same seems to be the case in India as well.

All OnePlus 8 series variants are a lot more affordable in India

The pricing of the OnePlus 8 series in India starts at Rs. 41,999 ($548). This price tag applies for the 6GB RAM variant of the OnePlus 8, which comes with 128GB of storage.

India is the first market to get a 6GB RAM model of the OnePlus 8, by the way. Everywhere else the phone’s base model includes 8GB of RAM.

That being said, the 8GB RAM variant with 128GB of storage is priced at Rs. 44,999 ($587). That very same variant costs $699 in the US, and €729 in Europe. So, it’s over $100 more affordable in India.

The OnePlus 8 variant with 12GB of storage and 256GB of storage can be purchased for Rs. 49,999 ($653) in India. That makes it almost $150 more affordable than in the US, and even more compared to the European variant.

In terms of the OnePlus 8 Pro, the difference is even more pronounced. The OnePlus 8 Pro model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage costs Rs. 54,999 ($718) in India. The model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage is priced at Rs. 59,999 ($783).

The top-end OnePlus 8 Pro model is over $200 cheaper

That makes the 8GB RAM variant almost $200 more affordable than in the US. The 12GB RAM model is over $200 cheaper, however. The difference is even more pronounced compared to European models.

It is worth noting that the 6GB RAM OnePlus 8 comes in Glacial Green color only, while the 8GB RAM variant will be available in Onyx Back and Glacial Green. The 12GB RAM variant will ship in both of those colors, plus the Interstellar Glow.

The OnePlus 8 Pro’s based model comes in Onyx Black and Glacial Green, while the top-end model will be available in both of those colors, plus the Ultramarine Blue. Both OnePlus 8 series smartphones will go on sale next month in the country.

As you can see, the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are a lot more affordable in India as well, following information that surfaced in China recently. The price difference was expected, but this seems like too much.

Why is that the case? Well, what some of you may not know, is that OnePlus manufactures its smartphones in India. The company does the same in its homeland, China, of course.

That, alone, makes the two devices more affordable. Now, if you account in all other expenses of exporting, customs, tax, and everything else, the price kind of makes sense. Still, we’d expect a less of a difference, but there you go.
