A report surfaced quite recently, suggesting that MIUI 12 is coming at the end of April. That same report suggested that the announcement may take place on April 27 or 28. Well, one of those dates was accurate, as Xiaomi just confirmed MIUI 12 launch date is April 27.
MIUI 12 launch date confirmed, Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G coming alongside it
MIUI 12 will be announced at the same event Xiaomi is planning to unveil the Mi 10 Lite 5G. That handset was introduced at the Xiaomi Mi 10 series global event, but this time around, the company will announce a Chinese version.
This press conference is set to take place in China, so that’s why. Just to be clear, this will be an initial announcement of MIUI 12, for the Chinese market. Its global launch is expected to follow soon after.
The press conference will start at 2 PM local time (China time), which is 2 AM EST, and 11 PM (the day before) PST. The Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G will probably be the same as the global variant.
It will include four cameras on the back, a waterdrop display notch, and thin bezels. The phone will also sport a 6.57-inch fullHD+ AMOLED display, 6GB / 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage.
The device will be fueled by the Snapdragon 765G 64-bit octa-core processor, which is the best mid-range chip Qualcomm has to offer at the moment. The phone will also include a 16-megapixel front-facing camera.
A 48-megapixel camera will be the main one on the back, and it will be joined by 8, 5, and 2-megapixel cameras. Those three cameras will be ultrawide, macro, and depth units, respectively.
An in-display fingerprint scanner will also be a part of the package, and the same goes for a 4,160mAh battery. The device will also support 20W fast wired charging. If you’d like to know more about the Mi 10 Lite, check out our global announcement.
Dark Mode 2.0 will be one of the most interesting additions to MIUI 12
That being said, far more people are probably interested in MIUI 12. A Chinese version of MIUI 12 will probably include many features that will be China-specific. It will, however, also give us an idea of what features can we expect in the global variant.
Xiaomi already talked about Dark Mode 2.0. It released several teasers when it comes to that mode, saying how it improved it. Amongst those, font weight is one of the most interesting ones.
The font will adjust itself when you’re using dark mode, depending on what lighting situation you’re in. So, if you’re outside, and the display is difficult to see, the font will become much easier to see.
This is just one of the changes that the company will bring with Dark Mode 2.0. If you’d like to know more, check out our coverage on that which was published yesterday. There you have it, MIUI 12 launch date is April 27, so we’ll soon find out everything there is to know.
