The Google Pixel 4a camera review has appeared ahead of the phone’s launch, and that is not surprising at all. We’ve seen similar scenarios for the company’s previous devices, both phone reviews and camera reviews.
Google is either really bad at hiding leaks, or wants such leaks to surface to hype up the device. Whatever the case may be, the full Google Pixel 4a camera review is here, and it brings along quite a few camera samples.
The Google Pixel 4a camera review appears ahead of time
This camera review has been shared by TechnoLike Plus, a Cuban blog, in partnership with XDA Developers. The photos that you’ll see here offer “excellent detail, balanced noise reduction with visible luminance noise, adequate (but not best in class) dynamic range, and great color accuracy”, notes XDA.
Night Sight is also as good as ever, in other words, amongst the best in class when it comes to taking low light photos. XDA notes that one of the phone’s weaknesses is exposure. As a result, you’ll get less shadow detail.
If you’d like to check out the camera samples, click here. That will take you to the Google Photos gallery of such images, and there are quite a few of them to check out. The source took sample pics in various conditions.
The source also confirmed the phone’s camera hardware. The Google Pixel 4a will feature a 12.2-megapixel camera on the back. That is Sony’s IM363 camera sensor, which has been included on the Pixel 3, 3a, and 4.
We’re looking at an f/1.73 aperture lens here, and 1.4um pixel size. The front-facing camera, on the other hand, is an 8-megapixel unit, Sony’s IM355 sensor with an f/2.0 aperture, and 1.14um pixel size.
That is the same camera that Google used on the Pixel 3 and 3a, in case you were wondering. The front camera offers fixed focus, and supports EIS, but not OIS.
This device should offer very similar results to the Pixel 4
All in all, you should be getting similar results with this camera as with the Pixel 4 camera, if not identical ones (not including telephoto shots, as that camera is missing here). At least as far as a rear-facing camera is concerned, of course.
The Google Pixel 4a is expected to arrive at the end of this month. The device’s pricing will probably start at $399, and we do have some information regarding its specifications already.
The phone will feature a 5.8-inch fullHD+ display, along with 6GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB of storage. A 3,080mAh battery will be included here, along with Android 10.
A rear-facing fingerprint scanner will also be included, while the phone will be fueled by the Snapdragon 730 SoC. A 3.5mm headphone jack will sit at the top of the phone. It’s also worth noting that the phone’s CAD renders surfaced earlier today. If you’d like to know more, check out our preview.
