Marshall has just announced its latest audio product with the Emberton speaker. A new Bluetooth speaker that’s not only packing the high quality audio you’d expect from Marshall, but it’s also portable.
Unlike the Marshall Uxbridge, which is a stationary speaker that you need to keep plugged in, the Emberton is compact, battery-powered, and it’s water-resistant. All things the Uxbridge is not really known for.
Not having those things is not a bad thing. It’s just that they’re certainly reasons why the Emberton might be a better option from the brand for some consumers. At least, if you’re looking for a Bluetooth speaker.
The Marshall Emberton speaker retails for $149
As Bluetooth speakers go, the Emberton isn’t the cheapest. Nor is it the most expensive. At $149, you could certainly find less expensive options out there.
But for all that money saved you’d likely run into other things that you find lacking. Perhaps it would be sound quality. Perhaps it would be the battery life. Or just the build quality.
The Emberton is designed to be water-resistant with its IPX7 design which means if you spill water on it, it’ll be fine. It’s also designed with a rugged build. Marshall says it’s extremely resilient, so chances are it can withstand a drop or two.
So long as they’re within reason. Dropping it from five stories up for example is not reasonable. Dropping it from waist height is.
Aside from the rugged build, the Emberton has a lot of other useful features on offer. Such as Marshall’s True Stereophonic multi-directional sound technology. Or the battery life.
You’ll get more than 20 hours of playback on one charge
Battery life is one of the most important factors in any Bluetooth speaker. It won’t matter much how good the audio quality is if the battery doesn’t last long.
With the Emberton you can get more than 20 hours of playback time on a single charge. If that isn’t enough, you can get five additional hours of playback time after plugging it in for only 20 minutes.
That means in an hour, you’re up to 15 hours of playback on top of the original 20+. Sure, you’d have to put the speaker down for an hour. But that might not be such a bad idea if you’re getting almost another full day’s worth of streaming out of it.
In addition to the battery life, the speaker also comes with a multi-directional control knob for easy management of your tracks and volume. It also acts as your power button.
The Marshall Emberton goes on sale today and will be available from the Marshall website in the US, the UK, Europe, and China.
