A new leak from WinFuture’s Roland Quandt has now revealed just about all the specs, images, and features anybody would want about the Samsung Galaxy Buds Live. Shown up close in Mystic Black, Mystic White, and Mystic Bronze, the leak includes details about functionality as well.
To begin with, previous reports hinting at an 11-hour battery life to match the previous “Buds” from Samsung appear to have been wrong. The details shared now suggest that up to 7.5 hours could be seen on a single charge. That’s with up to 28-hours overall, including recharges from the recharging carry case.
Of course, the longest playback time would require that Active Noise Canceling and “Always On Mic” are turned off. The former of those features are fairly straightforward, stopping outside noise from intruding on the listening experience. The latter feature is now and keeps the mic running, as its branding suggests. Presumably, that’s so users can access voice-assistants such as Bixby without the need to pull out their smartphone.
With both features on, reports and an associated datasheet hint at as little as 4.5-hours per charge. Or around 20-hours overall. The charging case itself is wired or wirelessly recharged, providing 35-minutes of listening on three-minutes of charge.
Interestingly, the housing for the buds also holds a touch sensor for interactions, accelerometer, hall, and distance sensors. At least some of that is likely to enable the buds to turn off automatically when they’re taken out of the ear.
So what else is new about Samsung Galaxy Buds Live?
Setting aside those details, some new specs for Samsung Galaxy Buds Live have come to light as well. To begin with, the buds will only weigh 5.6-grams per bud. For users in the US, that’s just over the weight of a nickel. Despite their diminutive size and strange shape, Samsung has managed to pack in a 12mm integrated driver with sound optimized by AKG.
It also managed to include two internal mics and one external mic. There are two speakers to deliver optimal sound coverage.
And they won’t necessarily fall out of wearers’ ears easily either. Samsung is said to be including three different-sized rubber sheaths that cover the bean-shaped buds and allow a better fit. Those leave the capacitive outer surface available for touch interactions for volume and playback control as well as call answering.
So what about pricing and availability?
Some details on pricing appear to have come to light with this leak as well. Samsung Galaxy Buds Live is expected to arrive in early August via Samsung’s Unpacked event. And, at least in Europe, the price is expected to be approximately €190 — around $221.
