To cater to online businesses, Facebook is now adding a new Shop tab on its app in the US. This will encourage users to buy and sell products directly from the app.
Besides, it is also launching Facebook Shops to users across the globe. Notably, Facebook launched the Shops in the US earlier this year. And now this feature is live for the global audience.
Talking about the Shop tab, it will be a dedicated tab on the Facebook main app. Here, buyers and creators can purchase and sell products online using the app.
COVID-19 has locked people inside their houses. And with restrictions in place, the online market has seen tremendous growth. Moreover, a report suggest that an estimated 85% of people across the globe are now shopping online.
So, this is a high time when Facebook turns to provide a dedicated platform for buyers and sellers. Users can discover new products and make purchases. While creators and brands will be able to showcase their products via this Shop tab.
Facebook is giving more control to the businesses and brands over their digital storefront
The new features give the businesses more control over their digital store. Facebook Shops includes new design layouts for single or multiple products, real-time preview of collections, new sellers can create shops automatically, and much more.
Noticeably, it is also introducing the Instagram checkout feature to all the eligible businesses based in the US. This will allow brands to sell their products directly from the Instagram app.
However, as per the official post, in order to use Instagram Checkout, businesses need to have Facebook Shops and use Facebook Commerce Manager or our partners Shopify and BigCommerce.
Moreover, the social media giant will also be wavering trading fees to help the businesses earn their dime during the time of the pandemic.
Users will be able to make use of the Live Shopping feature, making it easy to buy in real time. Instagram Live Shopping feature is available to all the creators in the US who are using checkout.
Furthermore, users will be able to use Messenger to interact with the buyers to get more information about the product. Note that this feature is under testing on Messenger and Instagram Direct now. The company will start testing it on WhatsApp soon.
The company will be adding more features to these tools like customization features, messaging, and new insights to help measure business results and much more in future updates.
