Huawei Mate X2 Will Mimic Galaxy Z Fold & Z Fold 2 After All

The Huawei Mate X2 will mimic Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold and Z Fold 2 devices, it seems. It was recently reported that the Huawei Mate X2 will fold inwards, and not outwards like its predecessor.

The Huawei Mate X2 will mimic the Galaxy Z Fold handsets, it seems

Well, that rumor was true, it seems. A very reliable source has just confirmed it. Ross Young, a well-known display analyst, talked about the Huawei Mate X2 display. Other than its size and resolution, he did confirm that it will be “infolding”.

Mr. Young said that the phone will feature an 8.03-inch 2480 x 2200 display. Ross Young actually shared a lot more information about the device a week ago. He deleted his tweets soon after posting them, but the information stayed out there, of course.

He said that the Huawei Mate X2 will arrive in both 8GB and 12GB RAM variants. The 8GB RAM model will include 128GB of storage. The 12GB RAM variant will come in both 256GB and 512GB storage flavors.

A 6,000mAh battery was also mentioned by the analyst, and so was 5G support. The device will support 65W wired charging it seems, though wireless charging wasn’t mentioned.

Android 11 will come pre-installed on the device, but without Google services. Huawei’s HMS will come pre-installed, along with EMUI 11, the company’s very own Android skin.

The phone is expected to include six cameras

The phone is expected to include a total of six cameras. A 40-megapixel main camera will be backed by a 40-megapixel ultra-wide unit. A 12-megapixel camera will also be included, and the same goes for a 5-megapixel unit.

Those will be the phone’s rear cameras, while 16 and 32-megapixel units will sit on the front. It also seems like Huawei will source Mate X2 displays from Samsung, not BOE.

The phone’s secondary display will measure 4.5 inches, in case you were wondering. It seems like the design will overall be somewhat similar to the Mate X2, but inverted, as the phone will fold inwards.

The Huawei Mate X2 is expected to arrive by the end of this year. We’re still not sure when will Huawei announce it, though. The Kirin 1000 is expected to fuel it, as that will soon become Huawei’s most powerful SoC.

The Huawei Mate X2 will have some stiff competition from the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2. That handset will soon be completely revealed, even though Samsung already announced it, kind of.

The next-gen Motorola Razr foldable is also coming, and it will be much improved compared to its predecessor. The Galaxy Z Flip and Z Flip 5G are also Samsung’s cards in the foldable game.
