The Samsung Galaxy S21 series will ship with larger batteries than the Galaxy S20 phones, it seems. This information comes from the GalaxyClub, who spotted what seems to be a battery certification for the Galaxy S21+.
The model that the source spotted is the ‘SM-G996’. This is quite probably the Galaxy S21+, but if that handset will ship with a larger battery, its siblings probably will as well.
The Galaxy S20 series came with larger batteries than the Galaxy S10 series. Similarly, the Galaxy Note 20 series offers larger batteries than the Galaxy Note 10 series. The Galaxy S21 will continue that trend, it seems.
Certification suggests Galaxy S21 series will offer larger batteries than their predecessors
The spotted battery has a product number ‘EB-BG996ABY’. The rated capacity of this battery is 4,660mAh, though we still don’t know its ‘typical capacity’. It will probably be around 4,800mAh, though.
The Galaxy S20+ has a rated battery capacity of 4,370mAh, while its typical battery capacity is 4,500mAh. So, if this information ends up being accurate, its successor will offer a 300mAh larger battery.
If the other two phones end up offering larger batteries as well, that means that the Galaxy S21 Ultra’s will go over 5,000mAh. The Galaxy S20 Ultra sports a 5,000mAh unit, so… the one on the S21 Ultra may be larger.
These are great news for battery life, though not so great news for phone weight, of course. Let’s hope that Samsung will find that sweet spot that will keep the phones not-heavy, and yet make them offer good battery.
These handsets will probably be made official in Q1 next year
The Galaxy S21 series is expected to arrive in Q1 next year. They will probably launch in either February or March, we’re still not sure. That launch event is still quite far away at this point.
The Galaxy S21 series did start leaking out already. We did not see a single leak of the devices just yet, though. We can only guess what they will offer at this point, though leaks will start soon.
Those devices probably won’t offer an under-display camera, at least according to rumors. 100W+ fast charging probably won’t be included either. Samsung is looking to include 65W charging inside the Galaxy S21 Ultra, if a recent rumor is accurate.
The Snapdragon 875 will probably fuel the Galaxy S21 series in China and the US. Samsung’s next-gen Exynos flagship will do the same in India and Europe. Android 11 will be included, and so will Samsung’s custom software. Wireless charging will be a part of the package, and so on.
