The world’s first foldable smartphone will soon get a successor, it seems. We’re, of course, talking about Royole FlexPai 2, which is expected to launch l in the near future.
Some of you may recall that Royole kind of announced this phone back in March. The company did talk about the device a bit, by mentioning some of its specs, and talking about its display.
A successor to the world’s first foldable smartphone is coming in Q3, it seems
The Royole FlexPai 2 was expected to launch in the second quarter of the year, but that didn’t happen. It seems like it will arrive in the third quarter, though.
Royole did not show off the phone back in March, nor did we get its full specs. Well, some new information just surfaced from a reliable source. A well-known tipster, Digital Chat Station, shared more information about the device.
Do note that some of this information has already been confirmed by Royole, such as the phone’s display, and the SoC it will run. In any case, let’s get down to this info, shall we.
The tipster says that the phone will feature a 7.8-inch 1920 x 1440 OLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate. The phone will be fueled by the Snapdragon 865 64-bit octa-core processor.
The Snapdragon 865 is, alongside the Snapdragon 865 Plus, the most powerful chip Qualcomm has to offer at the moment. The source also claims that the device will feature a 4,450mAh battery on the inside.
The device will include four cameras
The phone will also include four cameras, 64, 16, 8, and 32-megapixel units. Those cameras will serve as both the phone’s front-facing, and rear-facing units, it seems.
The device will pack in 12GB of RAM, and it will be 6.5mm thick when unfolded. The tipster also says that the device will weight 340 grams, for those of you who are wondering. 5G connectivity will be included.
That’s not all, though. The tipster claims that it spent some time with the device, and that the build quality is not on Samsung’s or Huawei’s level. That was to be expected, though.
The original FlexPai handset was not exactly the most popular one, but it managed to get some exposure as it was the first commercially available foldable smartphone.
We’re still not sure how much will its successor cost, but its specifications do seem to be quite promising. Royole did share more information about this smartphone back in March, so if you’d like to know more, click here.
