Lenovo has now tossed its hat in the ring. But there’s also smaller companies like Nubia who’ve entered the space with its Red Magic brand. Its latest offering, the Red Magic 5S, is now available for global pre-order.
Which means now is your chance to finally get your hands on one of 2020’s most powerful gaming phones. The Red Magic 5S is on par with other similar devices in some areas. But it excels in others. So this is definitely a device to watch.

If you want to get your hands on a new gaming phone, don’t count out the Red magic 5S.
It’s packed full of powerful specifications and hardware, and all at a pretty decent starting price. The phone will start at $579, though the price can go up from there depending on the configurations you choose.
That being said, there are only two different models, and the price difference isn’t that large. Which makes this more of a reason to consider the Red Magic 5S.
The $579 model comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. That’s the Sonic Silver model. There’s also the Pulse model which has 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The best part? That bump in specs only raises the cost to $649.
So it’s likely to cost less than the ASUS ROG Phone 3 when it finally goes up for sale in the US. Yet deliver most of the same specs. That alone should be a reason to consider the Red Magic 5S over the competition.
Open sales being on September 2
Today marks the first day of pre-orders. Open sales will be right behind the pre-orders though.
As Red Magic promises that open sales will start on September 2. This means next week, those who buy the phone should be able to expect the device to ship soon after the order is placed. Likely in the same week.
As a recap, the Red Magic 5S comes with a 6.65-inch 144Hz display, a 4,500mAh-capacity battery, and 320Hz shoulder triggers to give the phone a controller-like feel when playing games.
It also features exclusive gaming optimization and it’s powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 mobile platform. In short, this will be a device that should handle the most demanding mobile games without a hitch.
