Whoops, Google Accidentally Confirmed Pixel 5 Design & Price

Google has accidentally confirmed the Pixel 5 design and price tag. This was a mistake on the part of Google Japan, well, an alleged mistake. It’s possible the company did this on purpose, of course.

Whatever the case may be, that tweet is no longer available, so let’s assume it was a mistake. The tweet may be gone, but the record of what it showed lives on, of course.

The Google Pixel 5 design and price tag confirmed by the company itself

The tweet showed an image of the phone, embedded below this paragraph. As you can see, this image shows off the front side of the device, well, most of it. This basically confirms several leaks we’ve seen.

It is basically the same phone that leaked out, with the same wallpaper. As you can see, the device does have thin bezels, and a flat display. A display camera hole is also easily noticeable here, it’s located in the top-left corner.

The power / lock button sits on the right-hand side of the phone, right below the volume up and down buttons. We don’t get to see the bottom part of the phone’s back here, but the bottom bezel is extremely thin as well.

The phone will include two cameras on the back, which will be a part of the same camera module. You’ll also get a capacitive fingerprint scanner on the back of the device, along with Google’s logo.

This price tag pretty much confirms recent rumors

Now, what about the price? Well, the listed price was ¥74,800. That price got listed for Japan, of course, and it translates to $710. That means that the Pixel 5 price rumors are probably spot on. The device is said to cost $699 in the US, CAD799.99 in Canada, and €629 in Europe.

The Google Pixel 5 is an open book at this point. The device will become official on September 30, by the way. It will be fueled by the Snapdragon 765G, which is not a flagship SoC, but it’s a very solid mid-range chip.

The phone will feature a 6-inch fullHD+ AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. 8GB of RAM will also be included, along with 128GB of internal storage. Android 11 will come pre-installed on the device, by the way.

A 12.2-megapixel main camera will sit on the back, and will be backed by a 16-megapixel ultra-wide unit. A single 8-megapixel camera will be included on the front side of the device.

The phone will include a 4,080mAh battery, along with 18W fast wired charging. If you’d like to know more about the device, check out our Pixel 5 preview.
