Check Out The Pixel 5 Design Google Almost Opted For

A new leak shows us a Pixel 5 design Google almost opted for. This is a prototype Pixel 5 design, and it comes from Vietnam, it seems. It has been shared by a tipster called ‘Chun’.

This is the Pixel 5 design Google almost opted for

If you take a look at the real-life image provided below this paragraph, you’ll see the device itself. As you can see, this is a two-tone design, similar to older Pixel phone designs.

Unlike the Pixel 2 and 3, this handset has a much larger glass back. It’s also placed on the bottom side of the phone, not around the camera sensor.

That glass portion takes up for around half of the phone’s back side. The rest seems to be aluminum, according to the source. Other than that, the back of the phone looks the same as the Pixel 5 that surfaced.

So, the only difference is that glass panel. Speaking of which, we still don’t know what the real Pixel 5 will be made out of. Plastic, metal, and glass have all been mentioned, and a tipster said that the official press release is even more confusing.

It seems that Google mentions more materials in it, and it’s hard to figure out what’s going to happen in the end. Google will, however, probably use a frame made out of metal here.

If the company plans on utilizing wireless charging, the back side of the device will not be metal. Google may opt for glass, or something sort of glass and plastic combo. Even though that will be difficult, as the entirety of the phone’s back seems to be made from one material.

The device will become official on September 30

All in all, it’s pretty confusing, we’ll have to wait for the phone to launch. Speaking of which, the Google Pixel 5 will become official on September 30. It will launch alongside the Pixel 4a 5G.

Unlike the Pixel 5, we actually know what the Pixel 4a 5G will be made out of. It will sport a unibody polycarbonate build, just like the Pixel 4a 5G. It will be larger than the Pixel 4a, and it will include a more powerful SoC.

The Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G will actually ship with the exact same processor, the Snapdragon 765G. That is definitely not one of Qualcomm’s most powerful chips, but it’s one of the company’s best mid-range ones.

Google doesn’t seem to be interested in releasing a smartphone with a high-end chip this time around. The Pixel 5 will become the most powerful phone from the company released in 2020.

The device will arrive in black and green color options, and only one variant will be available. That variant will include 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It will feature a 6-inch fullHD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate. Feel free to check out our Pixel 5 preview for more information.
