We are no stranger to the VLC media player app. And as per XDA, a new VLC Android app update is live, which brings a black theme, a revamped video player, bottom navigation bar, and much more.
All these new features are bundled in the VLC Android app update version v3.3. In addition to this, the new VLC Android app update also brings support for Android navigation gestures, new UI tricks, animations, etc.
Earlier, all these features were pushed via the beta channel with version number 3.3.0 released back in March 2020. However, new features are now available in the latest update.
According to the official blog, the new design is developed to match Google’s material design. Bottom navigation bar is an addition for easier access to controls.
Finally, the VLC Android app update now brings a dark theme which is completely dark and not any other grey shade. In fact, the app icon is also updated.
The audio player now shows the progress of your content playing in the queue. And the video player is revamped with modern design elements.
VLC Android app v3.3 update brings improved lock player feature
The list of features does not end here. Notably, the VLC Android app v3.3 also adds an improved lock player feature. This basically helps you lock the orientation of the phone.
This lock player feature can be activated from the controls or the whole screen be locked from advanced settings. You can now also change between different audio tracks embedded within the video from one place.
Moreover, the subtitle download section is also getting revamped to give a more streamline look and appeal to it. The new audio/video sync feature is much easier to control.
Interestingly, all these new features and tweaks will be available, not only for the Android app on smartphones, but on the Android TV as well.
VLC for Android TV also gets some additional features
In fact, the Android TV app is getting some more features. For instance, the browsing screen of the player can now be viewed in a list instead of a grid.
DVD and Blu Ray player support has been tweaked and enhanced. The VLC Android TV app saves the current progress while watching any media.
On top of this, in order to further improve the app, a new Sponsorship option is live for users. This will enable the users to sponsor the developers to develop and further improve the application.
The post also highlights that the app gets a custom grouping feature. This enables to group the video into on your device into a custom group for easier access to your favorite videos.
