The OnePlus 9 Pro design leaked in CAD-based renders quite recently, but that leak was just brought under question by the OnePlus CEO. We are, of course, talking about Pete Lau.
He went to Twitter to share a rather cryptic comment. He said that “no design is ever set in stone”. This tweet came very soon after the OnePlus 9 Pro renders appeared online, so it’s not difficult to realize what he’s referring to.
The OnePlus 9 Pro design could be different, as per CEO’s comment
The leaked OnePlus 9 Pro design didn’t come as a surprise. That’s basically the design everyone expected. Based on Pete Lau’s comments, the phone could look different. Now, it probably won’t stray too much from what has leaked, though.
@OnLeaks said that the phone’s rear-facing camera module could look a little bit different. The rest of it is pretty much spot on, he claims. Well, we’ll have to wait and see if he’s right, as Pete Lau’s comment could suggest something else.
The device that leaked looks more or less like a blend of the OnePlus 8 Pro and Galaxy S20 FE. I’m saying that because its rear camera module resembles the one on the Galaxy S20 FE. The front side is basically taken from the OnePlus 8 Pro.
The device seems to be made out of metal and glass. A display camera hole is placed in the top-left corner, while the phone features a curved display. The back side of the phone is also curved.
The company’s upcoming flagship will be large, similar to its predecessor
Based on the provided information, the OnePlus 9 Pro will be quite a large phone. The tipster said it will feature a 6.7-inch display, similar to the one on the OnePlus 8 Pro. You can also expect a 120Hz refresh rate, and QHD+ resolution.
The device will be fueled by the Snapdragon 875 SoC, which hasn’t been announced yet. The OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro are both expected to launch in March next year.
