POCO M3 Finally Announced With Huge Battery, Stereo Speakers & More

The POCO M3 has been rumored for quite some time now, and we’ve also seen several leaks of the device. Well, the phone is now official, and it’s more or less exactly what we’ve expected it to be.

This is quite a compelling mid-ranger, with an extremely appealing price tag. The phone’s design is also rather unusual, as that camera module on the back reminds us of the OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk 2077 edition.

It has a huge camera module, which not only contains the phone’s camera, but the company’s branding as well. It’s that large for design purposes, pretty much. Camera sensors themselves don’t take up nearly as much space.

The phone comes with rather thin bezels, and a waterdrop display notch. Its bottom bezel is thicker than the rest, though, so keep that in mind, it does have a ‘chin’.

The POCO M3 is quite large, and it includes a beefy battery

The device features a 6.53-inch fullHD+ Dot Drop display. That display is protected by the Gorilla Glass 3, and the phone comes with an anti-fingerprint texture back, as POCO calls it. The device comes in Cool Blue, POCO Yellow, and Power Black color options.

Speaking of the design, the phone measures 162.3 x 77.3 x 9.6mm, while it weighs 198 grams. So it’s not exactly the smallest or lightest phone out there. It’s quite wide, tall, and thick as well. That thickness is necessary for the huge battery on the inside, though.

The POCO M3 includes a 6,000mAh battery, which does support fast charging. It supports 18W fast charging, while a 22.5W fast charger is included in the box. You can use this phone as a power bank as well, as it supports reverse charging through its USB-C port.

Android 10 comes out of the box, while stereo speakers are included

The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 662 64-bit octa-core processor. The phone includes 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and it comes in both 64GB and 128GB storage variants. Android 10 comes pre-installed, with MIUI 12 for POCO skin.

The phone does feature stereo speakers, and is Hi-Res Audio certified. A 3.5mm headphone jack is also included, while there are two SIM card slots, and a separate slot for a microSD card. The phone supports 4G connectivity, includes an IR blaster, and offers Bluetooth 5.0.

A fingerprint scanner is included in the package, as it’s located on the right side of the device. The phone also supports regular face recognition through its front-facing camera.

A 48-megapixel camera leads the pack

Now, there are three cameras included on the back of this phone, and one on the front. A 48-megapixel main camera (1.6um pixel size, 4-in-1 Super Pixel, 0.8um pixel size, 6P lens, f/1.7 aperture) is backed by two 2-megapixel cameras.

One of the two is a macro camera (1.75um pixel size, f/2.4 aperture, fixed focus), while the other is a depth sensor (1.75um pixel size, f/2.4 aperture). An 8-megapixel camera (1.12um pixel size, f/2.05 aperture) is placed on the front side of the device.

The POCO M3 with 64GB of storage is priced at $149, while the 128GB storage variant costs $169. Do note that POCO will offer special pricing for Black Friday, so both variant will be even more affordable ($129 and $149, on November 27). The device will be available through Amazon, AliExpress and other outlets. It will be available in both Europe and India, and probably more markets. POCO will share more information soon
