Chrome OS 87 Brings Tab Search, Bluetooth Device Battery Levels & More

A new Google Chrome OS 87 update is rolling out for the Chromebook models. Notably, the new Chrome OS 87 update brings tab search, Bluetooth device battery levels, and new wallpapers.

The Google Chrome OS 87 update brings some handy usability enhancements. Earlier, there was a feature called Tab Groups that allowed the users to hide/collapse tabs.

However, it did not reduce the number of tabs that were currently open. With the latest update, Google has added the Tab Search feature. This will let users search and find out what all pages are open across all windows.

You can make use of the Google Chrome OS Tab Search feature to locate a tab among multiple open tabs in a browser. A pretty nifty feature indeed.

You can access the Tab Search feature by pressing the Ctrl+Shift+A button on your Chromebook. Moreover, it is also accessible via the circular drop-down button in the top-right corner.

It will display a list of open pages. This includes information like website icon, page name, and domain, along with an individual close button.

Chrome OS 87 will show the Bluetooth battery levels of wireless earphones

Another new feature that Chrome OS 87 is adding is that it will now show the Bluetooth battery levels of accessories in Settings and Quick Settings.

You simply need to navigate over to the Bluetooth menu. Once you have connected your Bluetooth wireless earphones to your Chromebook, it will show you a notification along with the current battery level at the bottom-right corner of your screen.

If you wish to know the battery level of your headphone while using them, then you can do that by opening the Quick Settings or Settings menu. At the moment, it is unclear whether this feature works with other Bluetooth accessories as well.

Last but definitely not least, Chrome OS 87 is also adding a new collection of wallpapers. To be exact, a total of 36 new wallpapers from four different artists are added.

If you wish to change the wallpaper on Chrome OS 87, you can do that by right-clicking on the desktop and clicking the Set Wallpaper option.

For those who use Chromebook for content creation, then there is something exciting for you. Google has said that it will offer special deals on apps. You can head over to chromebook.com/perks to redeem these benefits and kickstart your creativity.

As noted by 9To5Google, the update also includes features like the ability to rename the file and select what folder to store it in Google Drive, support for switch accessibility devices, Alt+Tab window switcher now supports mouse, touch screen, and stylus input, etc.
