OnePlus 9 Pro Will Offer IP Rating, 9 & 9E Unlikely To Do The Same

The OnePlus 9 Pro will officially be water and dust resistant, as it will offer an IP rating (IP68, to be exact). Its siblings, on the other hand, probably will not. Just to be clear, we’re talking about the OnePlus 9 and 9E here.

This information comes from Max Jambor, a very well-known tipster. He seems sure about the 9 Pro, but he still isn’t when it comes to the OnePlus 9 and 9E. He is hearing that those two phones will not be officially IP-rated.

The thing is, OnePlus usually does put seals in place, and those devices will be able to withstand some rain, though OnePlus won’t vouch for anything.

This was the case for the company’s phones in general until this year. The 8 Pro was the company’s first, and until now, the last smartphone to offer an official IP rating.

The OnePlus 9 Pro may be the only phone in the series to offer IP rating aka water and dust resistance

The OnePlus 9 series is expected to arrive in March. The company will announce its next-gen flagships sooner than usual. That will be the case for quite a few companies in 2021, it seems, as Samsung will be about 6 weeks early as well.

The OnePlus 9 Pro will, as expected, be the most powerful of the three phones. What’s interesting, though, is that OnePlus will announce three smartphones. The OnePlus 9E is still a huge mystery.

Max Jambor revealed recently that the 9E will arrive alongside the 9 and 9 Pro. We still don’t know anything about that device, though. It could be a smaller alternative to the 9 and 9 Pro, while it could just be an inferior phone.

We’re still waiting for more information to surface when it comes to that device. The OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro, at the very least, are expected to ship with the Snapdragon 888, Qualcomm’s new flagship processor.

Both phones will be made out of metal and glass, and resemble their predecessors, to a degree. You can expect a display camera hole to be included, the same as with the OnePlus 8 series devices.
