Otterbox Now Makes Mobile Gaming Accessories

Gaming on the go with mobile devices is becoming increasingly popular thanks to services like Stadia, and Otterbox wants to make sure you’re gaming setup is protected with a line of new mobile accessories.

Mobile gaming of course was popular well before services like Stadia, Xbox Game Pass, Shadow, or GeForce Now showed up, but the new accessories from Otterbox definitely play well with those setups.

Otterbox’s new line of gaming-related accessories includes five different products. All of which aren’t quite available for purchase just yet. They will however be going up for pre-order in the near future.

Otterbox mobile gaming accessories launch in mid-February

Otterbox aims to get its new accessories on the market in the middle of next month. The company has confirmed that all the accessories have a ship date of mid-February.

But if you can’t wait that long to make the purchase, you will be able to pre-order them on January 25. Launch retailers will include Otterbox.com, Verizon.com, GameStop, and The Microsoft Store. So there’s a varied list of options for where to buy everything.

The full suite of new mobile gaming products of course includes a case, called the Easy Grip gaming case. Though this is only for iPhones at the moment. Compatible devices are the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro, the iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro Max, the 2nd-gen iPhone SE, the iPhone 8, and iPhone 7.

Otterbox says that the Easy Grip cases for select Android phones will be coming in the near future but it did not mention a date or which devices would be compatible. There’s a good bet though that it will include only a handful of devices. And likely just the most popular ones such as the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note lines.

In addition to the phone case, Otterbox also revealed the Gaming Glass Privacy Guard for screens, the Easy Grip Controller Shell, the Gaming Carry Case for Xbox controllers, and the Mobile Gaming Clip.

Designed for Xbox, but perfect for any mobile gaming

While the carry case is designed specifically for the Xbox wireless controllers, it can still be useful to someone that uses a different controller type.

It’s plenty big enough that it should fit controllers like the DualShock 4. And the top of the case even has a kickstand you can prop up where you can set your phone down. The gaming clip and the controller grip however will only work with the Xbox wireless controllers.

The gaming clip alone may be a reason to pick an Xbox controller if you don’t already have one. Thanks to its multi-angle settings. Otterbox designed it with an adjustable arm that can be locked to a different angle that can help prevent stress on your wrists. And you can even detach the clip from the controller and use its built-in table top stand.

The clip will fit just about any size smartphone as well. From a Pixel 4a 5G all the way up to a Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.

When it comes to prices, all the accessories are fairly reasonable. The phone case retails for $55, the gaming clip is $30, the controller carry case is $45, the controller grip shell is $40, and the gaming privacy guard is $50.
