Meizu will announce its next-gen flagship smartphones in March (on March 26), but they won’t feature under-display cameras, contrary to what the rumors have been saying. The company is probably planning to announce two smartphones once again.
Now, this information got shared by ‘Tech Agent’, a well-known tipster. He shared what seems to be an official confirmation by the company via a poster. We were unable to find this image on Meizu’s Weibo page, but it’s possible it’s there, or will be soon.
This image clearly confirms that the Meizu 18 series is coming, which makes sense, as the Meizu 17 series launched last year. Meizu hasn’t announced a single phone since then, as the company is currently focusing on high-end devices only.
The Meizu 18 flagships are coming, but they won’t include under-display cameras
This image also confirms that the Meizu 18 won’t include an under-display camera, that goes for both devices in the series. You can clearly see the design of the phone in the provided image, and the display camera hole is clearly visible.
That display camera hole will be centered, and it will be quite small, it seems. The phone will feature really thin bezels, and a flat display. We’re not sure if this is the Meizu 18 or 18 Pro, but it’s possible they look the same.
You will also notice a quad-camera setup on the back. One of those four cameras is quite small, so it’s possible that’s a depth sensor or something of the sort. We still don’t have any information on the remaining three sensors.
All physical buttons will sit on the right-hand side. You can see two color variants of the phone here, cyan and white units. The Meizu 18 and 18 Pro will likely be made out of metal and glass, by the way.
The Snapdragon 888 will almost surely fuel these devices
The poster also confirms that the devices will support 5G connectivity. That is a given, not only considering these are flagship handsets, but considering that the Snapdragon 888 will fuel them.
Android 11 is expected to come pre-installed on them, along with Meizu’s Flyme skin. Not much else is known about these phones. What is also interesting, is that Meizu got a new CEO recently. Huang Zhipan has replaced Huang Zhang. What’s interesting here is that Huang Zhipan is the younger brother of Huang Zhang.
