Google Pixel Watch Could Use Samsung's SoC, Not Qualcomm's

According to the new information, the upcoming Google Pixel Watch could use Samsung’s SoC, not Qualcomm’s. This information has been shared by Max Weinbach, during a recent podcast. He appeared in Mobile Tech Podcast with tnkgrl Myriam Joire.

During that podcast, he shared a lot of Pixel 6 information, which we already talked about. In addition to that, however, he also talked about the Pixel Watch, and the Pixel 5a as well.

The Google Pixel Watch will use Samsung’s 5nm SoC, it seems

Max Weinbach said that the Pixel Watch will include Samsung’s 5nm processor, not one of Qualcomm’s offerings. This is a bit surprising, as many people assumed that Qualcomm’s SoC will be powering it.

He also noted that the Pixel Watch will likely launch in October. It is expected to arrive alongside the Pixel 6 series. Mr. Weinbach did note that the launch timeframe may change, though, if the chip shortage proves to be a problem for Google.

The Pixel 6 will have a huge, Samsung flagship-level marketing budget, according to Mr. Weinbach, which probably means that the Pixel Watch will get plenty of exposure as well. It will likely be pushed separately, but also promoted alongside the Pixel 6 series.

The Pixel 5a will be more expensive than the Pixel 4a, which is not surprising

In regards to the Pixel 5a. That handset is expected to arrive before the Pixel 6 and Pixel Watch. Mr. Weinbach did note that the Pixel 5a will be more expensive than the Pixel 4a.

That is to be expected as the Pixel 5a will essentially be the Pixel 4a 5G, based on the info that surfaced thus far. We still don’t know what price to expect, exactly, but it could be a bit more affordable than the Pixel 4a 5G. As a reminder, the Pixel 4a 5G launched at $499.

If we had to guess, we’d say that the Pixel 5a will cost either $449 or $499, but that’s just a wild guess. It most likely won’t cost more than the Pixel 4a 5G, though, we’ll see.
