OnePlusannounced its new budget smartphone quite recently, the Nord N200 5G. Well, we have some bad news when it comes to that phone. The OnePlus Nord N200 5G will receive only one major Android update.
The OnePlus Nord N200 5G will receive only one major Android update
OnePlus has confirmed the information to 9to5Google, which makes it official. The good news in all this is that the device will get three years of security updates, so there’s that.
The thing is, the OnePlus Nord N200 5G is a brand new smartphone. Many people expected it to get two major Android updates, at least. That won’t be the case, though. Still, this means that it will get better support than its predecessor, the Nord N100.
The OnePlus Nord N200 5G ships with Android 11 out of the box, which means it will get Android 12. Android 13 won’t be coming to the phone, though. One major update is a bare minimum these days, even for budget phones. So OnePlus did deliver in that regard.
OnePlus was once well-known for its software support, but it is lacking recently. The company’s merger with OPPO should improve things, though. OnePlus promised faster and more stable updates following the move.
It remains to be seen if OPPO integration will benefit OnePlus’ budget devices
The thing is, we’re not sure if OnePlus’ budget phones will benefit from this merger, in regards to update support. We’ll have to wait and see what will happen, but the OnePlus Nord N200 5G is only getting one major update.
The OnePlus Nord N200 5G is a budget smartphone. It is fueled by the Snapdragon 480 SoC, and it includes 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The phone does come with stereo speakers, and three cameras on the back.
Android 11 comes pre-installed, with OxygenOS 11 on top of it. A 6.49-inch fullHD+ (2400 x 1080) LTPS LCD display is also a part of the package.
The company also included a 5,000mAh battery here, with 18W fast wired charging. Wireless charging is not supported on the device. The OnePlus Nord N200 5G will become available soon for $239.
