The OnePlus Nord 2 may launch on July 9. That information comes from GSM Arena. The source mentioned that date while relaying specs leaked by 91mobiles, which we talked about yesterday.
Speaking of which, the OnePlus Nord CE 5G launched yesterday, as a new budget offering from the company. The OnePlus Nord 2 is expected to be considerably more powerful than its sibling, though.
The OnePlus Nord 2 may launch on July 9, almost exactly a year after its predecessor
The OnePlus Nord, the original one, launched at the end of July last year. Its successor is expected to be an improvement in a number of ways, and the most notable change will be the SoC.
The OnePlus Nord 2 is expected to ship with the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC. That is the most powerful chip MediaTek has to offer. As a reminder, the original OnePlus Nord arrived with the Snapdragon 765G.
The OnePlus Nord 2 will likely be made out of metal and glass. It will include a display camera hole, and quite possibly a flat display. An in-display fingerprint scanner will be included, and the same goes for multiple cameras on the back.
It will include a high refresh rate AMOLED display, and a large battery with fast charging support
The device is expected to feature a 6.43-inch fullHD+ AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. A 4,500mAh battery was also mentioned in yesterday’s leak. It will offer fast charging, at least 30W charging, if not faster.
The phone will arrive in 8GB and 12GB of RAM variants, and 128GB and 256GB of storage, respectively. A 50-megapixel rear camera will be backed by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide unit, and a 2-megapixel camera (depth or macro). A 32-megapixel camera will sit on the front.
Android 11 will come pre-installed on this handset, with OnePlus’ OxygenOS 11 skin. The OnePlus Nord 2 probably won’t offer wireless charging, but OnePlus may surprise us.
That is basically everything we know about the phone thus far. It will be interesting to see how much will it cost. OnePlus will have to offer a compelling price tag for this thing, as the competition is fierce.
