Galaxy S22 leaks and rumors are starting to come more frequently. The latest piece of information is regarding the charging power of the next-gen Samsung flagships. Noted leaker Ice Universe has suggested that the Galaxy S22 series might support 65W fast wired charging. The information was posted on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo. It doesn’t explicitly mention 65W charging for the Galaxy S22 series but says Samsung is testing charging power above 25W for the new flagships. We might see either 45W or 65W charging in the next-gen Galaxy S series devices.
Most recent Samsung flagships only support 25W charging speeds at max, except for a few models in between. But the Korean firm is now seemingly preparing to take things up a notch. A recent FCC certification for the Galaxy S21 FE showed support for 45W charging. And by the looks of it, the company will further improve on that by offering 65W charging in the Galaxy S22 series.
This isn’t a completely new development though. A listing on the TUV SUD certification website from January this year shows a new charger with model number EP-TA865. It supports a maximum output of 20V at 3.25A. In simpler terms, this charger is capable of delivering up to 65W of power. There’s also mention of support for Programmable Power Supply (PPS). It allows for adjustable output voltage and current to enable desired charging power, up to 65W, of course.
That said, this doesn’t necessarily confirm that the Galaxy S22 series will support 65W charging. However, since no other Samsung device does yet, the company developing a 65W charger means it’s planned for one of the upcoming devices. The Galaxy S22 series appears to be a strong candidate for that. Time will tell whether the entire Galaxy S22 lineup will support 65W charging or only the Ultra model will do.
When will the Galaxy S22 series launch?
There’s still plenty of time to go before Samsung’s next-gen flagships arrive in the market. The devices will likely break cover in January next year, which is six months away. However, leaks and rumors pertaining to the upcoming Galaxy flagships have already started to come. Earlier this week, it was reported that the Korean firm might actually use its upcoming 200-megapixel camera in the Galaxy S22 Ultra after some earlier reports suggested otherwise. You can expect to hear more about the phones in the coming months.
