Verizon has added a new 5G phone to their collection, the Motorola One 5G UW Ace. It is the most affordable 5G-capable handset on the network, coming in at just $299.99. And as with all 5G phones on Verizon, it will support the Ultra-Wideband (UW) mmWave networks, including the upcoming enhancements. The new handset also debuts the company’s “brand new” Verizon Adaptive Sound system.
Motorola One 5G UW Ace specifications and features
Motorola launched the One 5G Ace in January this year, alongside several other Moto G series handsets. It sports a big 6.7-inch Full HD+ Max Vision IPS LCD screen with a centered punch-hole cutout. Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G processor with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage.
For photos and videos, the device features three cameras at the back. There’s a 48-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. It houses a 16-megapixel camera at the front for selfies and video calls.
The 5,000mAh battery charges at 15W speeds over a USB Type-C port and can keep the phone running for up to 48 hours depending on usage. Of course, if you spend too much time playing games or regularly streaming videos over 5G networks, you won’t get that much battery life.
Talking about gaming, Verizon offers six or 12 months of Google Play Pass (usually $4.99/month) at no additional cost with select Unlimited plans. And as for 5G connectivity, the company says its mmWave 5G networks are now available in parts of over 70 cities. However, coverage is still largely spotty, though it offers significantly higher speeds than the sub-6GHz 5G.
Other notable Motorola One 5G UW Ace specs include a 3.5mm headphone jack, a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, Bluetooth 5, dual-band Wi-Fi, NFC, and GPS. Verizon is promising some business-grade security and productivity features as well, including ThinkShield for mobile. The device also comes pre-loaded with BlueJeans, the company’s video-conferencing service.
Last but not least, Verizon is launching its Verizon Adaptive Sound system with this phone. It offers a “brilliant spatial surround experience” regardless of the output device. The feature will automatically optimize the audio for your device, though you can also manually control settings like treble, bass, etc. Verizon says its Adaptive Sound system will be available to more devices, both new and existing, in the future.
Price and availability
The Motorola One 5G UW Ace will be available to buy via verizon.com starting today, i.e. July 8th. The phone has an MSRP of $299.99, or $12.49 a month for 24 months on Verizon Device Payment. You can also get it for free if you sign up for a premium unlimited plan.
If you’re a T-Mobile subscriber, the Motorola One 5G Ace is also available on Metro by T-Mobile for $279.99. The T-Mobile-owned MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) is offering the device at just $19.99 (exclusive of taxes) if you switch to the carrier.
