GE adds a ton of new Cync lighting options at CES 2023

At CES 2023, GE’s Cync has just announced a ton of new lighting options. But perhaps the most important announcement from Cync is the fact that Cync be rolling out products and integrations with Matter later this year. These new products are not Matter-compatible, but that could change in the future.

What this means is that these products announced today are not compatible with Matter, but all future products should be.

First up, we have the Cync Dynamic Effect line, which has a new neon rope light that allows for custom shapes, hexagonal wall panels and some new A19 and BR30 bulbs that can display four different colors at once. They also all offer up to 16 million colors to choose from.

The Cync Dynamic Effects Indoor and Outdoor Light Strips are available starting today from Best Buy and Lowe’s for just $89.99. Other Cync Dynamic Effects products will begin rolling out in March 2023, with prices ranging from $19.99 to $199.99.

Integrating with Schlage

In addition to these other announcements, GE Lighting has announced a new integration with Schlage. Allowing the Schlage Encode Smart WiFi Deadbolt and Encode Plus to set routines and automations with their lock using the Cync app. For instance, you’ll be able to turn on an entryway light when the front door is unlocked.

It’s really good to see GE Lighting integrating with other smart home products, as these smart home products should just all work together. Which is the main premise behind Matter. Unfortunately, these products don’t have Matter support, but future ones will. Which does put GE Lighting behind some of the competition right now.

However, Cync’s products are a lot cheaper than some of its competitors that do support Matter right now, like Nanoleaf, Philips Hue and Govee. So that could be a big selling point for Cync.
