It seems like at least some users are experiencing poor video call quality on their Pixel 7 phones. They’ve been reporting problems on Reddit, as the quality is way worse than what the iPhones and other Android devices are offering.
The Pixel 7 series users are reporting poor video call quality
Users have been saying that it happens on both Google Meet and other apps. The Pixel 7 series seemingly produces blurry and smeared images in comparison, and that goes for both its front and back cameras.
At first, users thought it’s a Google Meet issue, and that it’s not affecting only Pixel 7 series. That’s not true, though, as the call quality on other phones looks much better. Also, the Pixel 7 series users are also experiencing the same problems on Telegram, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
To truly show off the problem, Redditors captured three screenshots during a Google Meet video call, which you can see below. The first one was captured by the Pixel 7, the second by the iPad Pro 2018, and the third by the Pixel 3 XL. The Pixel 7’s is, by far, the worst of the bunch, and it should easily be better.
This issue doesn’t seem to be new either
This issue doesn’t seem to be new, actually. Android Police did report that it has been around since launch, but that it hasn’t been as widespread as it is now. Many users started complaining recently.
This does seem to be a software problem, and not a hardware one, which are good news for Pixel 7 users. Google will probably look into it at some point in the future, and judging by how many complaints it likely received lately, we do expect some info on it soon.
Needless to say, this can be immensely annoying if you’re utilizing video calls frequently. You paid for a phone with great cameras, so this should not be happening, of course.
