Pixel 7a appears in a bunch of hands-on images; specs leaked too

The Google Pixel 7a has just surfaced in a bunch of real-life hands-on images. In addition to that, some of the phone’s specifications were mentioned as well. This leak comes from Vietnam, and it was shared way back on January 5, but it wasn’t spotted until now.

The Pixel 7a hands-on images appeared, along with the phone’s specs

Do note that this is not the first time we’re seeing the phone, but it’s the best look we got thus far. If you take a look at the images provided in the gallery below, you’ll see 10 of them shared.

The first thing most of you will notice is that this phone resembles the Pixel 7… a lot. In fact, most people wouldn’t even be able to tell the difference between the two phones.

This seems to be a DVT 1.0 prototype phone

This particular model is a DVT 1.0 (Design Validation Test) prototype phone. It is bricked, but the source was able to show off its design, at the very least. The phone has a very similar camera visor on the back, to the Pixel 7, but it seems to be thinner.

There is also no microphone next to the LED flash on the back. Google’s logo is visible on the back, while this seems to be an Obsidian model. The color seems to be identical to the Pixel 7.

The phone does have a display camera hole on the front, and it’s centered. Its display is flat, and the phone has the same boxy shape as the Pixel 7. Now, based on the specs, however, it will be a bit smaller.

It will allegedly use a 6.1-inch panel, upgraded from its predecessor

The Pixel 7a will allegedly include a 6.1-inch fullHD+ 90Hz display. The Pixel 7 includes a 6.3-inch display, for comparison’s sake. This handset will utilize the same SoC as Google’s current-gen flagships, the Tensor G2.

The company is tipped to utilize LPDDR5 RAM here (8GB), and UFS 3.1 flash storage. Android 13 will, of course, come pre-installed on the phone, as that is the latest version of Android.

Google is set to use a 64-megapixel main camera here

A 64-megapixel main camera (Sony’s IMX787 sensor) is mentioned here, which is a bit of a surprise. The Pixel 6a includes a 12.2-megapixel unit (Sony’s IMX363 sensor), while the Pixel 7 has a 48-megapixel (ISOCELL GN1 sensor). So, this will be a brand new camera sensor… for Google, as it hasn’t been included on any other Pixel. That camera will be backed by a 12-megapixel ultrawide unit (Sony’s IMX712 sensor).

It was also mentioned that the device will support 5W wireless charging, in addition to having wired charging support. An in-display fingerprint scanner will also be included, while the phone will arrive in black, white, and arctic blue colors.
