Tecno launched the Tecno Phantom V Fold and Tecno Phantom V Flip back in February and September last year respectively. Now successors of both the foldables, the Tecno Phantom V Fold 2 and Phantom V Flip 2 have leaked in real-life images. The leaked live images reveal a major shift in the design language of both the new book-style and clamshell foldables from Tecno.
New Tecno foldables in live images
The Tecno Phantom V Fold 2 comes with a redesigned camera island on the back. While the Tecno Phantom V Fold offered a circular camera island, the successor adopted a larger rectangular camera island.
As you can see from the real-life images, the camera island on the Tecno Phantom V Fold 2 has two distinct sections. The top left includes two cameras, while the lower left has a periscope-style telephoto camera.
The flash module sits on the top right side of the camera island. An additional sensor sits on the lower section of the camera island below the flash module. This layout spreads the elements evenly across the module, providing a more technical and advanced appearance.
To recall, the Tecno Phantom V Fold’s camera island housed three lenses and a flash, all within the same circular boundary. Notably, the design was more symmetrical and compact, giving a clean, minimalist aesthetic to the back of the phone.
Tecno Phantom V Flip 2 appears to pack a much larger outer display
The Tecno Phantom V Flip 2 comes with two individual camera lenses arranged vertically. The pill-shaped LED flash is located below the second lens. This rear camera setup on the upcoming device occupies less space and seems more minimalist.
When compared with its predecessor, the Tecno Phantom V Flip 2 seems to pack a much larger outer screen. The Tecno Phantom V Flip only had a small circular outer display inside the large circular camera island, that offers limited functionality. That being said, the phone still packs a dual-camera setup on the back.
The metal middle frame on the new clamshell foldable from Tecno also appears to be flatter as compared to its predecessor. Aside from the live images, the pricing of both of the new foldables from Tecno has also been leaked recently.
