This 'Ultra' smartphone could take iPhone's video recording crown

One of this year’s ‘Ultra’ smartphones is tipped to take iPhone’s video recording crown. The device in question is the Vivo X200 Ultra, which is expected to arrive in mid-to-late April.

Apple’s iPhones are still regarded as the best video recording smartphones out there. It’s a whole different story when we talk about still images, though, so take that into account.

The Vivo X200 Ultra could grab Apple’s video recording crown

In any case, one of the best-known tipsters out there, Digital Chat Station, shared the Vivo X200 Ultra’s video recording prowess. He says that the phone will feature a professional camera-inspired design and industry-leading hardware.

He flat-out said that this phone could surpass what Apple has to offer in terms of video recording capabilities. The phone is expected to include three cameras on the back, all of which will include large sensors.

It will have three truly capable cameras

Its main camera will have a 35mm focal length (1.5x equivalent), and we’re looking at a 1/1.28-inch 50-megapixel sensor here. That same sensor is said to be used for the ultrawide camera (23 or 24mm, 1x equivalent).

The third camera on the back will be a periscope telephoto snapper. It will be a 200-megapixel unit with a 1/1.4-inch camera sensor. That camera will also double as a telemacro shooter, in case you were wondering.

ZEISS will be a part of the equation once again. The Vivo X200 Pro is possibly the best camera smartphone that we’ve ever used, and the Vivo X200 Ultra is looking to build upon that and offer something truly stunning.

Vivo also plans to use two self-developed imaging chips, and ZEISS’ prowess too

The phone is also said to include two self-developed imaging chips, which should enhance image processing and video capabilities as well. The Vivo X200 Ultra is also expected to support 4K 120 FPS video recording.

A dedicated Action Button is also expected to be included. That button will be there mainly for photography purposes, but chances are it will be customizable. The Snapdragon 8 Elite will likely fuel the device, while a 6,000mAh battery is also rumored.

The Vivo X200 Ultra is expected to launch in China in mid-to-late April. We’re still not sure if we’ll get a global variant or not.
