HTC Desire 816

HTC Desire 816 Information:

Let's face it, HTC builds some nice looking devices and the mid-range HTC Desire 816 is no exception.  The HTC Desire 816 has 5.5-inch HD Super LCD2 Display that translates into a 1280 x 720 resolution.  The reliable Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz powers the device.  HTC puts in 1.5GB of RAM and it runs fast and smooth through Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Sense 6.0 overlying on top.  The Desire 816 only comes with 8GB of internal storage on board; however, they do provide a microSD card slot to add an additional 128GBs if needed – plenty of room for all of your pictures, videos and music.

Thankfully, HTC went the more customary route with the Desire 816's main camera and chose a 13MP sensor that takes surprisingly nice pictures, especially outside in the daylight.  They also threw in a great 5MP front-facing camera (FFC) for wonderful video chatting and selfies.  The device is powered by a 2600mAh battery that should easily get you through a day of normal usage.  Being on Virgin Mobile means that you will be using Sprint's network – the Desire 816 easily hooked up to their network and the Desire 816 is capable of taking advantage of Sprint's Spark, faster, tri-band frequencies.

HTC Desire 816 Editor Rating:

The HTC Desire 816 is a definite winner in the mid-range line of smartphones and easily one of the better devices in Virgin Mobile's arsenal of devices.  HTC draws on the strength of its HTC One line of flagships and is able to squeeze alot of desirable features into a reasonably priced device.  It has a high quality, if low pixel count, LCD display and the Desire 816 retains the dual front facing stereo speakers with BoomSound.  The Snapdragon 400 coupled with 1.5GB of RAM is responsive.  It quickly hooks up with Sprint's 3G CDMA network and 4G LTE network, including the faster tri-band Spark frequencies.  If you are on Virgin Mobile and want a bigger screen device, the HTC Desire is a great buy in this price range.
