According to sources at our friends at mobilesyrup.com Bell Canada will be releasing the HTC Desire Z on their network later this fall with an estimated time frame of late November just in time for holiday shopping.According to their source they have been tipped several times and this device will be heading exclusively to Bell Canada,no exact dates or prices have been confirmed. This will certainly be a great addition to the Android Line-Up at Bell and in Canada.
This phone will come with a 800 Mhz Qualcomm 7230 CPU, Android 2.2 Froyo, 3.7″ screen, 14.4 Mbps HSPA+, Wi-fi 802.11n, 720p video recording and a 5 MP camera with flash possibly.
It certainly leaves us to wonder if one of the other major carriers will be picking up the HTC Desire HD to complete with Bell’s latest acquisition of a top android device.Bell also was first on the scene this summer to bring Android users in Canada the Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant and are now bringing in another fine device.Telus Canada has tried to keep up as well with their launch of the HTC Desire this summer and more recently their version of the LG Ally – The Shine Plus and the Samsung Galaxy Apollo. While Rogers has taken a different route this year with some questionable android handset selections this summer like the Motorola Flipout, Motorola Quench , LG Loop and SE X10 Mini that failed to impress.Other then the X10 Xperia and Acer Liquid Le which fail to compete with the other devices at high-end android smartphones we are certainly expecting much better from Rogers this fall.We broke the story early back in august that Rogers will be bringing in the Samsung Galaxy S Captivate but is almost 3 months behind Bell’s Release of the Vibrant and now potentially could steal their thunder away with the Launch of the Desire Z.Some of the new entrants have also brought in some decent devices to hamper Rogers share of the Android Market with Wind Mobile launching the Motorola XT720 and Videotron and Moblicity launching the covenanted Google Super Phone Nexus One.
The Canadian Android Market is surely heating up and will have plenty of choices of quality handsets from most of the Carriers. The HTC Desire Z is great looking and performing device and should make Canadian Android users very happy this fall and will steal away a few Rogers customers waiting on the delayed release of Samsung Galaxy S Captivate. Will you be buying one of these?
