Recently we reported that an Australian carrier Telstra disclosed HTC’s plans to upgrade select One devices to the latest iteration of Android OS, Jelly Bean. Well, they were absolutely right as HTC has confirmed that the HTC One X, One XL and One S will be tasting the Jelly Bean OS pretty soon. Still no official dates were handed out in the statement and people were left scratching their heads, wondering how “soon” the update will hit their devices. The update will also be hitting the carrier versions of the mentioned phones including AT&T, T-Mobile and Canadian carrier Rogers.
We are still wondering if other high-end devices including but not limited to HTC One V, Evo 4G or Droid Incredible 4G will be getting the update or not, no confirmation by HTC yet. Check out the official statement by HTC below.
“We know HTC fans are excited to get their hands on Google’s latest version of Android. At this point in time, we can confirm that we have plans to upgrade our HTC One X, HTC One XL and HTC One S to Jelly Bean. Please stay tuned for more updates regarding device upgrades, timing and other details about HTC and Jelly Bean.”
The International variants of the mentioned phones will be the first to receive the update and North America will follow (soon hopefully). All carriers will have to test the update and fill it up with bloatware before releasing it to the users. We are still not certain if Jelly Bean will come with the same Sense 4.0 running on One devices or HTC will kick it up a notch by introducing Sense 4.5 or 5.0 (highly unlikely).
