Featured: ASUS Padfone 2 Shown Off Ahead Of Official Event

The ASUS Padfone 2 is a phone that’s quite different from most currently on the market. While we have seen phones that power a laptop for example, you don’t exactly see too many that power a tablet. Since many smartphone owners also have a tablet, this opens up a new market of devices, that is if sales go well.

Even though the Padfone 2 was going to be unveiled next week in Milan, Italy and live on YouTube, ASUS CEO Jerry Chen showed off the whole setup to Bloomberg TV, albeit very briefly. Even though we weren’t able to really get a look at the performance since only ASUS personnel could really show off the device, you do get a good idea of the design.

The 10.1 inch tablet is said to be much lighter and thinner with 3x the battery capacity of the original. Regarding the Padfone 2 itself, you should get a full day’s charge, plus the tablet has a built-in battery to power the screen as well as keep your phone charged, allowing up to 3 days of power if away from an outlet.

To give a quick recap, the ASUS Padfone 2 has a 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor, 4.7 inch HD display, and is capable of taking impressive 13 megapixel photos. Below is a video of the ASUS Padfone 2 being shown off and you’ll want to jump to the 1:45 mark. Are you excited about this device?
