For the longest time, the iPhone has remained supreme as far as smartphone displays. Screens have definitely been getting better on Android however and starting next year, we’re going to see some impressive displays from the likes of Samsung and LG.
However, before we get too far ahead, while we may not see them in the states, there will be 1080p smartphones launching elsewhere. The HTC J Butterfly and Oppo Find 5 look rather promising and offer incredible 5 inch 1920 x 1080 displays. But wait…
The HTC DLX for Verizon was leaked recently and is rumored to have the same display as the J Butterfly. So maybe there is hope for a 1080p phone launching very soon in the states.
MK News claims that industry sources have said that LG and Samsung will be launching smartphones in the first half of 2013 that feature a 1080p display. Supposedly, Samsung has figured out a way to take AMOLED to the next level packing more than 400 pixels per inch. LG has managed to do the same with LCD panels.
We have no details just yet on what these phones will be, but as far as Samsung’s, chances are this impressive display will be in the Galaxy S IV. With what we’re already starting to see, this report isn’t too farfetched and could very well be legit.
After all, 2012 was the year of quad-core. With the innovations being made with smartphone displays, it’s looking like 2013 will be the year of full HD displays.
