Featured: Meet The Military Grade Casio G'zOne TYPE-L

We see a lot of phones in all shapes and sizes, but it’s not too often you see a military grade spec Android device. Casio looks to take the incredibly durable phone market to the next level with their upcoming G’zOne TYPE-L. Yeah, we’re not a fan of the name either.

While not as large or as spec heavy as many high-end phones out there, it’s packing some decent specs.

  • 4 inch IPS display at 800 x 480
  • 1.5GHz Qualcomm MSM8960 dual-core processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB internal storage with microSD card support up to 32GB
  • 8 megapixel camera
  • WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G, 4G
  • 1,800 mAh battery
  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

The phone will be out in February in red or black, but first in Japan for under $400 USD. There’s no word on it if it’ll roll out to other countries. As far as how durable the Casio G’zOne TYPE-L is, it was designed to meet the MIL standards of the United States Department of Defense. In other words, it’s shock resistant, waterproof, dustproof, and can take quite a bit of abuse.

It’s definitely designed for the more outdoors type and comes with some very cool sensors to detect temperature, orientation, acceleration, has gyroscope, and can give you atmospheric data. There’s definitely a market for the phone and look forward to seeing it being put through the paces and beat around on some Youtube video.
