ASUS has been teasing us for weeks about just what they might have up their sleeve for this year’s Mobile World Congress, and today we get a little further glimpse into the great mind of ASUS in the form of a press invite for their MWC event.
This year’s Mobile World Congress will certainly be a tale of two OEMs, namely ASUS and LG, as we will not be seeing much out of Samsung or HTC whom have opted to hold their own private events. Both LG and ASUS have made it quite obvious that they are vying for the most press coverage at the conference. LG has hinted that they will be introducing a whole new line of devices at the event along with what is rumored to be their upcoming flagship device, the 5.5-inch 1080p Optimus G Pro. LG’s invite consisted of an unopened gift with text reading simply, “New Series Will Be Unveiled”. That pretty much leaves us with a strong impression that LG will be throwing everything that they currently have ready for 2013 at us in Spain.
The ASUS invite on the other hand, was not quite so clear as to their intentions at Mobile World Congress. The invite, which consisted of icons following a silhouette like shape of either an infinity symbol or the number eight lying on it’s back. Text on this press summons reads, “In Search Of Incredible”, with this all on a dark cloudy backdrop. The infinity/eight is glowing as well. While the eight could mean Windows 8, if it is an infinity sign, it could be the next generation of the Transformer Pad Infinity that we saw released last year. For the life of me, I just cannot see much more in terms of hints or telltale signs in the ASUS invitation.
Looks like we will just have to wait and see what they have in store for us at the event while relying on our leaks about a 7-inch Intel “Lexington” powered Android tablet (FonePad), or maybe one of our many rumors, like one about the MeMo Pad 10 being brought out to the public at MWC. Right now, we have just a few clues as to what ASUS will have going on at this year’s event. We will be counting down the days until February 25, when we can see everything that ASUS has to offer us at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
