At this point, unless we’re looking at an extremely elaborate hoax, the HTC M7 is what HTC will unveil at its press events in New York City and London later this week. Yesterday, a potential release date was leaked, and now we have more information about carrier partners.
According to a new report from HTC Source, and several previous reports, the HTC M7 will be making its way to all major United States carriers, with one notable, and reasonable exception. Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T are all expected to offer the latest HTC flagship. Verizon, of course, already offers the very similar DROID DNA, so it makes sense that it would not offer the M7 to customers. The other three carriers are reportedly ready to launch the M7 sometime in mid-March following its announcement on February 19th.
This wouldn’t be the first time Verizon has decided not to launch a flagship device. The carrier never sold a One X variant, but instead focused on the RAZR series and DROID Incredible 4G LTE. HTC Source keeps the door open as to Verizon potentially launching the M7 sometime later on, but we wouldn’t hold our breath. There aren’t enough differences between it and the DROID DNA to warrant potentially ticking off buyers of the DNA.
The M7 is expected to be HTC’s 2013 flagship device. Current rumors suggest it will come with a 1.7 GHz quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB of storage, and a 4.7-inch HD screen. Camera-wise were looking at a 13MP rear facing shooter and 2MP front-facer for all those gorgeous self-portraits. The phone is expected to run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and be the first device to ship with HTC’s Sense 5 overlay. Sense 5 is expected to be much cleaner and easier to navigate than the current overlay. The M7 will also supposedly come in two color variants, black and silver/white.
